We offer valuable support for new and growing businesses in the district through the Start in South Staffs programme. Whether you’re thinking of starting a business or have recently taken the step into self-employment, this initiative is designed to provide the guidance and resources needed to help your business flourish and grow.
The Start in South Staffs programme offers practical advice and tailored support for entrepreneurs and businesses that have been trading for up to two years.
The programme provides access to a bespoke package of support, including workshops and expert-led sessions, aimed at equipping new business owners with the fundamental tools and knowledge to run a successful business. These workshops cover key areas such as marketing, financial planning, and operational strategies, ensuring entrepreneurs are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of the early stages of business.
New businesses in the district can choose to participate in either online or in-person sessions, while also benefiting from one-to-one support. This flexible approach ensures that businesses can access the support that best suits their needs.

Free Carbon Literacy training for businesses
 As part of our Green Solutions Programme, join us in taking part of our free carbon literacy training. This training provides valuable insights into carbon management, enabling businesses to take meaningful action towards a greener future.
The training, taking place on 11th-12th February 2025, is designed to help business owners, managers, and employees understand the impact of carbon emissions and how to implement strategies to reduce them. Staffordshire County Council is inviting business leaders and industry experts to a breakfast event focused on Supporting Care Leavers into Employment.
