Partnership updates
Keep yourself and others safe this summer 🌞
Whether you support football or not, summer is often a time for celebration, socialising with friends and enjoying the outdoors.
Staffordshire Police are urging the public to consider their safety this summer, whilst making the Summer of '24 one to remember for the right reasons.
Consider the following tips to keep yourself and others safe this summer.
Making travel plans before you set off on a night out: If you’re heading out to meet friends for a drink, make sure you plan your journey home in advance. Even one drink can affect your ability to drive safely, so book a taxi, find a designated driver or use public transport to be on the safe side.
Avoiding driving the morning after a big night out: If you have a big night out you can still be over the limit the morning after so please don’t attempt to drive and find an alternative way to travel.
Being responsible about your behaviour in public: Antisocial behaviour or violence is not acceptable so our officers will be completing high visibility patrols in high footfall areas throughout the tournament to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves safely.
Treating your family with respect, no matter the results of the game: No one should have to experience abusive or violent behaviour in the home from a partner or family member. If you have any concerns about a situation at home then please reach out for support.
There is more advice on the Staffordshire Police domestic abuse webpage.
Thinking before you type: Online hate is a crime and won’t be tolerated, just because you’re not saying the words to someone face to face they still have the potential to cause distress and harm. We have investigators seeking out abusive online comments and, if they meet a criminal threshold, those posting these comments will be prosecuted and subsequently dealt with by the courts.

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Tourism Awards open for entries
The area’s largest celebration of tourism and hospitality, the 2025 Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Tourism Awards competition, is now open for entries!
Organised by the Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), the region’s accredited tourist board, in partnership with VisitEngland, this prestigious competition sees attractions, venues, experiences, accommodation businesses, restaurants, pubs and cafes go head-to-head in 19 categories.
Winners will progress to the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2025, giving them the chance to emulate the success of previous national competition finalists Gladstone Pottery Museum, the National Memorial Arboretum, Trentham Estate, Duncombe Arms and Alton Towers Resort.
Now in their eleventh year, the awards, previously known as the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism & Good Food Awards, recognise and celebrate the outstanding people and businesses which make up the area’s £2bn tourism sector.
Alastair Budd, Director of Trentham Estate and recently appointed LVEP Chair said: “We’re excited to be launching our 2025 awards competition which gets bigger and better every year! We encourage any business that thinks they’ve got what it takes to win to enter. It’s also an opportunity for Staffordshire businesses to recognise the hard work of their teams, and the only way for them to qualify for the national awards.”
The awards are free to enter, and any tourism or hospitality business located in Staffordshire, including Stoke-on-Trent, can apply.
All applications must be submitted online before 23:59 on Monday, September 2nd.
Details of all the categories, registration for the webinars / workshops and how to apply are available at www.enjoystaffordshire.com/awards.
