'Your Health is For Life'

Wednesday, September 20th marks this years National Fitness Day - a day to encourage people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to recognise and celebrate the life-long physical and mental benefits of being active.


National Fitness Day 2023

More than a quarter of the population in England is classed as inactive – averaging less than 30 minutes of exercise a week, according to Sport England’s latest Active Lives survey.

Free Health Checks

Everyone Health will be delivering FREE health checks for South Staffordshire residents. See below for full details.

  • Tuesday September 19th, 10am-4pm at Codsall Hub
  • Wednesday September 20th, 10am-4pm at Penkridge Leisure Centre and Wombourne Leisure Centre
  • Thursday September 21st, 11am-5pm at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre

Health checks are available to:

  • South Staffordshire residents
  • Aged 40-74 years
  • Must not be on statins for BP, Cholesterol or Diabetes
  • (Customers that do not fit into the 40-74 age category and people that do not live in the district are entitled to a mini MOT)

Health checks will consist of the following:

  • BMI
  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Healthy lifestyle advice

Bring a friend for FREE

On Wednesday, September 20th, members are eligible to 'bring a friend for free'.

  • This offer is available for the gym, exercise classes, swimming and the toning suites. 
  • Members must accompany the new user in their chosen activity.
  • New users attending the gym will be required to sign the Health Commitment Statement prior to entry into the facility. 
  • The new users must complete a 'National Fitness Day form' prior to using facilities which must be completed at reception. 
  • Advanced booking is recommended for the gym, exercise classes and toning suites as places are limited.

New users will also receive free leisure centre passes to use at a later date.


Fee-free month up for grabs

All participating visitors attending the leisure centres on Wednesday, September 20th will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a fee-free month. Winners will be announced Thursday, September 21st. 


Your chance to WIN leisure merchandise

We will be encouraging customers to complete a 'My Health to Me' board, telling us why you like to exercise.

All customers that tell us why they exercise will be entered into win a free water bottle and kit bag.

UK Active are encouraging you to view National Fitness Day as just one step in a much bigger journey, because after all, your health is for life!

We want to get everybody spreading the message and enjoying the benefits of physical activity.

Being physically active regularly throughout the day can: -

  • Reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases and mental illness by 35%
  • Support good physical and mental function, and improve sleep
  • Alleviate symptoms associated with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions
  • Offset the risk that comes with prolonged sedentary behaviour at work
