The leisure centre teams have been focusing this week on preparing the centres for potential re-opening in July. It is planned for the facilities to open up in gradual phases with phase 1 consisting of the re-opening of the gyms and exercise classes. All other facilities will open as soon as we feel safe to to so. At this time we cannot give exact dates or timetables of when these facilities will become available to you, however we will continue to keep you informed on developments.
Work has been done in the gyms to allow safe distancing between stations. Some of the centres have repositioned machines or relocated pieces of equipment to other available rooms.
Bulk cleaning supplies have been ordered and we can assure you that cleaning will be thorough and frequent with deep cleaning of facilities and equipment carried out on a daily basis. We will also be asking customers to wipe down equipment before and after use.
Opening times of facilities and the centres in general will initially be reduced to ensure staff have adequate time to deep clean.
Booking will be essential and capacity will be restricted to ensure all users can comfortably workout and keep a safe distance from others.
To ensure that all of our customers have a fair opportunity to access the facilities, we will be limiting your workout time to a maximum of 1 hour. We will also be restricting time on the CV machines to a maximum of 15 minutes per station to ensure that users have a fair opportunity to use all pieces of equipment.
Wombourne Leisure Centre is utilising their i-active room and has relocated some gym equipment here. The room will be bookable for one household at a time. This means that people who consider themselves to be more at risk or who are more anxious about using the gym, can workout in a room with confidence that they are as safe as possible.
The exercise classes will run as normal in the exercise studios however we may utilise outdoor space, the sportshalls and any other available rooms.
Class timetables are currently being developed to ensure there are appropriate gaps between classes. This will enable everyone to maintain a safe distance, not only during classes, but whilst entering and leaving the building.
Booking will be essential and classes will be restricted to ensure participants have adequate room to exercise comfortably whilst ensuring a safe distance from others.
Classes will be adapted to reduce the amount of hand held equipment. We will however be asking customers to wipe down equipment used, before and after use.
The leisure centre will initially open at reduced hours with the last class of each day finishing at an earlier time than normal; this will allow staff time to do a thorough and deep clean of the room and equipment at the end of the day.
Thank you to those of you that completed the re-opening survey that we sent out. Your feedback has been invaluable in making sure that we open the leisure centres at times that best suit you; in addition to the types of classes we timetable in and the times in which they run.
We will do our best to accommodate your favourite classes at your chosen times. As social distancing eases and guidelines change, we will monitor our programmes and gradually increase provisions whilst maintaining the safety of our staff and customers.
Timetables of centre opening and class programmes will be sent to you once we have finalised everything.
