Homeownership Litigation Assistant – 11 July 2025
Southwark Council is looking for a Homeownership Litigation Assistant who will play a key role in supporting legal action for the recovery of service charges, garage rents, mortgage arrears, and other council debts. You will assist Litigation Officers in preparing documentation and evidence for use in court and tribunal proceedings, ensuring cases are managed efficiently, professionally, and in line with tight deadlines.

Mentoring volunteer
Being a mentoring volunteer means spending time with a young person every week, one-to-one. You’ll be a trusted role model and someone they can look up to in their journey towards achieving their goals. You’ll provide a space that introduces the young person to new experiences and helps them explore their interests. You don’t need special skills as our mentoring team will train and support you all the way. If you want to make a real difference in a young person’s life and help them grow, this is for you!
A degree apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to gain a paid-for degree while getting industry experience and earning a salary. You can gain a full undergraduate or master’s degree, which will typically take three to six years to complete.

Burgess Park Sports Centre now open
The new Burgess Park Sports Centre has now opened. The centre aims to provide a range of opportunities for local people of all ages and background to take part in sport. With a new pavilion that offers flexible community space and an outdoor basketball court, you can find the right sporting activity that suits your needs.

Keep learning to improve your wellbeing
Each day, there are little steps we can take to boost our mental health and wellbeing. We recently launched a new campaign – five ways to wellbeing – based around simple ways that have been proven to help: connect, take notice, be active, give and keep learning. In this month’s enewsletter we’re focussing on keep learning. Learning new skills can be fun and help us all to feel more confident.
Free digital skills training
Customise your learning journey with courses in web development and data science to develop in-demand digital skills, alongside employability support from industry professionals to help you identify and achieve your career goals. We have already supported over 110 young people, and applications are open for courses running from April - September 2025.

>> Street League’s Sport For Employment Programme - do you want to get fit, have fun, build skills, and gain qualifications? If so, this could be the programme for you. You could benefit from support into work, training, college and apprenticeships
>> Making Waves Music Programme – take part in a one-to-one music making programme with support from professional producers. Over the course of 10 sessions you’ll create, record, and release your own music all from the comfort of a private studio.
The Southwark Hospitality Skills Hub is a programme designed to support and train unemployed residents into hospitality sector roles. The programme will also support employed residents into better paid work or those who want to change careers.
XLP’s Ready to Work Project is a six-week course designed to help young people overcome obstacles to entering and maintaining steady employment. The programmes focuses on enhancing self-awareness and empowering young people to take ownership of their professional journey
