Whooping cough is spreading – vaccines offer the best protection
It can be particularly serious for pregnant women and young children. Numbers are very high at the moment.

Camberwell food festival: enjoy a feast of flavours
Enjoy a feast of flavours at Camberwell Green (SE5 7AA) with stalls from amazing local cafés and restaurants. There'll be cooking demos, tastings, delicious dishes, food walks, live music, a farmer's market, and more. 10am to 6pm, 18 May.
Visit some floating gardens near Tower Bridge
As part of the National Garden Scheme, seven floating barge gardens, connected by walkways and bridges, will be open on 19 May. The gardens (in SE1 2AX) have an eclectic range of plants for year-round seasonal interest. Adults £5, children free.

The inclusive and dynamic performing arts festival (during May and early June) showcases a line-up of artists and creatives. With groundbreaking emerging writers, moving new musicals, clowning and spoken word, it’s the festival for everyone!
Free: Nunhead Cemetery open day
Enjoy a tour of the cemetery and crypt and watch historic horse-drawn hearses on the main avenue. Children's events include bug-hunting and clay modelling.

A spectacular view and ancient woodland: Sydenham Hill Wood walk
Walk through ancient woodland and enjoy a spectacular view of London in what BBC Countryfile describes as one of London's most beautiful green spaces.
Film locations walk in Borough and by the Thames
Start in Red Cross Garden, SE1, head towards Tate Modern, passing Shakespeare's Globe, The Golden Hinde, and ending at Tate Modern. You'll see film locations from Bridget Jones's Diary, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible and many others.
Walk the Green Link Walk, starting in Peckham
The new 15-mile walk links almost 40 green spaces and a number of waterways via mostly quiet streets in London. The signposted walk starts in Peckham, ends in Epping Forest, and passes many historical points.

Our highways team maintains the roads and pavements, designs schemes to improve them and works with the community to enhance where people live. The Project Support Officer will support all three work areas.

Get your travel vaccines before you go abroad
More people in south London have been diagnosed with travel-related illnesses recently, in particular Hepatitis A and malaria. You can book Hepatitis A, typhoid and tetanus vaccinations, free of charge, through a Southwark GP.
Get protected with a COVID-19 vaccine
Getting your vaccine means your symptoms will be milder and you’ll recover faster if you catch COVID-19. You're eligible if you are 75 years or older, or six to 74 and have a weakened immune system.
Measles cases are high in London: get protected
Measles is serious. Children are at highest risk, but anyone can catch it. In Southwark, children are offered the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine at 12 months and the second dose at 18 months.
