Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Windrush's arrival
We're joining people across the UK to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Windrush, and the legacy of the Windrush generation.
Try an architecture walk starting at Canada Water (and get an amazing view)
Explore the history and changing architectural face of the Docklands – at one time the world’s largest port. You can also discover Russia Dock Woodland and enjoy far-reaching views (sometimes as far as Wembley Stadium) from Stave Hill.
Free talk: Out Loud – A History of LGBTQ+ people and public libraries
Head to Dulwich Library on 27 June to hear a potted history of public libraries, as both havens for and censors of LGBTQ+ material.
Celebrate Refugee Week in Southwark
Refugee Week (19 to 25 June) is a celebration of refugees' contributions to art, culture and society and this year's theme is Compassion. Head to St Giles Church in Camberwell on 1 July, from 11am to 4pm, for a celebration event.

Last chance: redeem your £66/£67 vouchers, if you have a pre-payment meter, by 30 June
If you have a pre-payment meter for energy bills, you should be getting help through the government's support scheme. Most people get six vouchers (via text, email or post) worth £66 or £67 each. Redeem them at your usual top-up point by 30 June – the vouchers expire after 90 days. If you have any expired vouchers you can ask your energy supplier for replacements.

Get cost of living advice on a range of topics, including debt and rent arrears, benefits energy bills and more on 6 July at Silverlock Tenants Hall, Warndon St, London SE16 2SB. Drop in between 10am and 1pm.
Get over £1,000 in total to buy healthy food and milk for your child
You could be eligible for the Healthy Start scheme if you're aged:
- 18 or over and are pregnant, or have children under four years old and you get certain benefits
- Under 18, pregnant and don't get benefits.

Don't miss out: COVID-19 vaccines for all end soon
At the moment, everyone aged five or over can get a first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccination. After the 30 June 2023, this offer will end. Book now if you’ve still not had your first or second dose and don’t want to miss out.
Last chance: get your COVID-19 booster if you’re eligible
COVID-19 is still making thousands of people ill every week. Protection against it (either from catching the virus or from a vaccination) fades over time. The NHS is offering a further vaccination to those at highest risk of severe illness.

- local cancer screening
- blood pressure and weight checks
- what your local leisure centre can offer you
Why speaking to your GP about prostate cancer is key for black men over 45
One in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer. But, it’s even more common in Black men – with one in four being diagnosed with the condition in their lifetime. The NHS recommends that Black men over the age of 45 speak to their GP about their risk of prostate cancer, even if you are not experiencing symptoms.

Free: get active in Southwark’s parks this summer
We're running five health and wellbeing park events this summer starting from 29 July. Come and take part in a taster session, including exercise classes, family sport, BMX (Burgess Park), training on outdoor gyms, hear about local leisure centre opportunities, and find out about healthy lifestyle services in Southwark.
