The theme, "Youth opportunity" will be looking at a number of different aspects, including apprenticeships, start ups, courses, creative arts and finding out how to have a voice in the community,  influencing decisions that affect young people etc. If you are involved with a group or organisation that deals with young people, and would like to be involved, please contact gill.kelly@southwark.gov.uk

...and... we have put together an evaluation form online, to make sure our communications with you and the community at large, are meeting your needs. London Community Foundation update

More than two months has passed since we awoke to the dreadful news of the Grenfell Tower fire, and the tragedy is still very much on everyone’s minds. Over the weeks, we've seen the incredibly sad and disturbing scale of injury, loss of life, anger and damage to the community. However, London’s response and show of generosity has been nothing short of inspiring. It has been a very humbling experience for The London Community Foundation to be so closely involved in supporting the survivors and all those affected by this disaster.

Thanks to all those who have donated, we have raised £6.9 million to date - £6.2 million through the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund and £700,000 from Artists for Grenfell – the No.1 selling single ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.

As of today we have allocated £5.5 million to survivors (£5.2 million of which is from the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund with the remaining from Artists for Grenfell). This amounts to £27,000 to each of the 158 Grenfell Tower surviving households and a further £1.2 million to the London Emergencies Trust for next of kin and people with life changing injuries. We have also distributed £100,000 amongst local community organisations who provided immediate emergency support in the days following the fire.

I recently attended a meeting with over 100 Grenfell Tower survivors. They are truly brave people whose lives have been traumatically changed by the events of 14th June. Yet they were keen to express their gratitude to the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, The London Community Foundation and the generous donors who have been so moved to support those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. As you can see, these donations are getting through to the survivors and are helping them to overcome extreme hardships at this very difficult time. As one survivor said at the meeting “You consulted, you listened and you acted quickly and with humanity.”

We continue to work in partnership with the Charity Commission, Grenfell United and survivors of Grenfell Tower to ensure that the remaining donations are distributed to meet the needs of those affected. The London Community Foundation will stand by the community for the long term and do what we always do, support the most disadvantaged communities and groups across London.
