Helps keep things in perspective Benefits of Reiki One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep and improves and maintains health. Reiki also balances the mind and emotions. Regular Reiki treatments can bring about a calmer and more peaceful state of being, in which a person is better able to cope with everyday stress. This mental balance also enhances learning, memory and mental clarity. Reiki can also strengthen and heal personal relationships. Because Reiki enhances your capability to love, it can open you up to the people around you and help your relationships. Letter from Mayor of London
Hello,
London is the best city in the world – entrepreneurial, international, full of creativity and possibility. The key ingredient of our success is the flow of ideas and talent from all corners of the globe.
Following the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union, it is more important than ever to show that our city is united and the capital will continue open for business and open to the world.
This is a task that needs us all to work together – to get the best deal for London, to retain our global position and to celebrate our diversity. So I am writing to you as a fellow Londoner and someone who cares deeply about our city to ask if you can help.
London is one of the world’s most diverse cities. People from different nationalities, races and religions live in harmony here. We don’t just tolerate our differences, we celebrate them. Many people from all over the world live and work here, contributing to every aspect of life in our city. I have a clear message to them all: you are, and continue to be, welcome in London.
Now’s the time to make that message clear to everyone – that our city is comfortable in its diversity, proud of his history and optimistic about its future. London is open.
Over the coming weeks, I will be working with as many people as possible to ensure London continues to be the best place in the world for business, creativity and innovation — and that London continues to be the best place in which to live, work and raise a family.
I’m asking that you join me in spreading this message of inclusiveness and openness and to get behind our #Londonisopen movement by showing your support however best you can. By providing brilliant creative content that can be shared by all Londoners, using your own social media reach, or supporting this initiative in other ways. However you can help, we’d love to work with you.
With thanks,
Sadiq Khan
Yesterday, Sadiq announced #LondonIsopen, a major campaign to show that London is united and open for business and to the world following the EU referendum. The Mayor is urging Londoners, organisations and businesses to support the #LondonIsopen message, and make contributions via social media and in other creative ways. I have attached a letter from the Mayor, which goes into more detail.
A part of the campaign is built around the idea of ‘opening doors’ and we are encouraging people to use this as a starting point for their own ideas. The social campaign includes a post of Sadiq opening a door at City Hall with the message #LondonIsOpen (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErLq9nir41E). We want this gesture to go viral and will be inviting Londoners to do the same thing. It would be fantastic if you could participate by taking a picture of yourself opening a door and posting it on social media with the message #LondonIsOpen to business, culture, ideas and people from all over the world.
Would you be willing to take part? If so, please be do post a photo now.

The Peckham Settlement
The Peckham Settlement was relaunched from Peckham Library on 16 June as reported in the last News Letter. The Re-Launch was very well attended and a great success. The Guests of Honour were the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Southwark, Councillor Charlie Smith, and his wife, Sue. Several other Southwark Councillors also came.
The Trustees of the Settlement made a presentation to explain their aims which were to make small grants to local charities and other voluntary sector organisations in accordance with the Settlement's charitable objectives. Grants are available from £100 to £5,000 for capital and revenue costs for up to 3 years, funding will usually be by a single payment, no application deadlines will be applied and the trustees will consider applications every 8-12 weeks. Further details are available on the Settlement's website: www.peckhamsettlement.org.
At the invitation of Councillor Michael Situ, Chair of the Peckham & Nunhead Community Council, the Settlement's Chair, Michael Fowke, spoke about the Re-Launch and the Settlement's grant making programme at the Council Meeting on 29 June.
