World Championships bronze medal for Southampton gymnasts

Southampton Gymnastics Club’s Kieran Whittle, aged 19, and Farai Bright Garamukanwa, aged 15, came third at the World Championships in Acrobatic Gymnastics held in Levallois, France. Keri Llewellyn, their coach and Southampton Gymnastics Technical Director, said: “The boys achievement is phenomenal and shows that the gymnastics programme we have running at Southampton Gymnastics Club is world class.”

Kieran and Farai will also aim for the World Cup and European Championships next year. They are looking for sponsors to help with their future goals as their sport is non-funded. Please contact Southampton Gymnastics Club on 023 8052 9952 if you would like to support these two great gymnasts.

Join Friends of Weston Shore for the 'Big Beach Clean Up'

Sunday 3 August / 10am - 1pm / Starting near the Pitch & Putt centre off Weston Parade Road

Friends of Weston Shore would like to invite everyone with an interest in protecting one of Southampton’s most beautiful locations to come along to the annual ‘Big Beach Clean Up!’ and show support for the area by taking part in a short litter pick along Weston Shore seafront.

Weston Shore is one of Southampton’s hidden gems. The 85 hectare site runs alongside the Solent and up to the mouth of the river Itchen. It is also an international Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the importance of the inter-tidal mudflats which attract thousands of wading birds each year. To find out more email Adam Manning.
