Calling all musicians! It's your chance to perform at Southampton Airport
Southampton
Airport is offering talented musicians in the local area a chance to perform in
the airport's busy terminal. Planning is underway for this year’s programme of ‘Music
In The Air’ – a series of musical performances on Friday evenings in the airport lounge. Last year’s debut programme included saxophonists to acoustic rock bands, youth swing groups and
electric string duos. Passengers were musically entertained as they travelled through the
terminal.
Hazel
Screech, Terminal Operations Manager, said:
“Music In The Air was very well received by our passengers last autumn and
we’re excited to be offering the wider community an opportunity to perform throughout
this year.”
Music In The Air is a collaboration between Southampton Music Service and Southampton Airport. Interested
musicians should contact music@southampton.gov.uk
with the act/band/group name, what kind of music they play, the age of the
musicians and links to samples of their music.

SYCS Spring Concert
The Southampton Youth Concert Sinfonia Spring Concert at Oasis Academy Lord's Hill gave the audience an opportunity to hear and see the excellent results of the work accomplished on the SYCS February half-term residency in Shropshire. The orchestra played each piece with style and character, ending the evening with an energetic performance of Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Big Spring Sing workshops have been taking place at schools across Southampton. Southampton Music Service provides schools with a music pack and audio tracks so they can prepare their students for a final Big Sing workshop/presentation to parents and guests. Participating schools link up to share a theme for their singing events. Last year the Big Sing themes were 'animals' and 'space'. This year the themes are 'sports' and 'Southampton'.
