Music you can walk inside

Park with people walking

Students from Highfield CE Primary School had a great time investigating the musical secrets in the Valley Gardens, University of Southampton on Wednesday 19 December. Local composer, Ben Mawson had worked with the children to record their poems and stories.

Comments from sone of the Highfield students:

“We did this for homework and my story is about a badger and a newt”.

“Our recordings are up in the sky in a satellite which means it is there forever and anyone can hear me speaking if they bring their phone into the secret garden”.

“You can hear different children speaking and different bits of music. Every time you stand somewhere different, you can hear different things”.

Allan King (Headteacher) said “We had to 'drag' the children away despite the rain and cold”.

Ben's project is unique. Read more about Music you can walk inside.
