The Prime Minister has announced his plan for living with COVID and the removal of any remaining COVID-19 restrictions and regulations. Self-isolation regulations ended on Thursday, 24 February. It is still important to stay at home if unwell and to get a PCR test if you are symptomatic until the changes to testing regulations come into effect from 1 April. One of the Government’s main objectives is to protect those most vulnerable to COVID-19 through vaccination, guided by Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advice, as well as deploying targeted testing.
Testing will be scaled back in line with the reduced risk from COVID-19 and free testing will end for most people from 1 April, however, there will still be ongoing free testing for some at-risk groups and social care staff.
COVID safe behaviours such as wearing a face covering in crowded public spaces, ventilating your space to allow fresh air to flow and washing your hands regularly, all help to prevent the spread of the virus and keep ourselves and those around us safe. Vaccinations are proven to be the best form of protection from the virus and we encourage all those eligible to get their jab as soon as is possible. More information on can be found here.
As one of our valued Community Partners, we’d like to work with you to reach more residents to enable them to access or take-up their COVID-19 vaccinations. We’re looking to address the many reasons that cause barriers or resistance to vaccinations or boosters, with funding available for partners such as yourselves to help reach out to key target audiences in the city.
Director of Public Health, Dr Debbie Chase, explains in more detail what we are working to achieve in this video.
