 Help us Get Southampton Moving
It’s really important over the coming weeks and months, as we get back to doing the things we’ve missed so much, that we continue to manage the risk of COVID-19 in our communities. The new Leader of Council, Cllr Daniel Fitzhenry, explains the importance of booking your jab, taking regular tests and self-isolating when needed in this short video message from home. If we work together we can Get Southampton Moving again.
 Local COVID-19 data update
The number of COVID-19 cases in Southampton have increased slightly, as have national cases, though there were no hospital admissions this week.
While we all want to get back to doing the things we enjoy, it’s important to remember that COVID-19 still poses a risk to our health. As variants continue to spread, people aged 25 and over can now book the Covid-19 vaccine.
Please ensure you get the right test: if you have COVID symptoms, self-isolate immediately and get a PCR test. It is also important to get tested even if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms to help protect yourself and others. If you don’t have symptoms, you will need an LFD test. Remember the basics: hands, face, space and fresh air and follow these steps to keep safe and get Southampton moving:-
- Open windows and doors when mixing with other households indoors, including at home.
- Self-isolate and book a PCR test if you have symptoms.
- Test twice a week if you don’t have symptoms. If you have symptoms, self-isolate at home and get tested.
- Maintain social distancing, even if shopping, waiting in a queue or in outside spaces.
- Have a vaccine when offered. People aged 25+ can book a vaccine through the NHS website even if you haven't yet received a letter.
- Meet other households outdoors rather than indoors as much as possible.

Women who are breastfeeding can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it is offered to them. If you have any concerns, speak to a healthcare professional before having the vaccination.
Please be aware there are scam messages circulating, please ignore any messages you’re unsure of. The NHS will never ask you for money or your bank details for your vaccination – it is free.
You can book an appointment now if:
- you are aged 25 or over
- you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
- you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker
