Calling all history enthusiast! We are currently looking for volunteers to join the front of house team at Tudor House and Garden Museum! 

Our dedicated team of volunteer are essential to help tell the museum's story to visitors, and ensure they have an exciting and memorable experience.

  • Becoming part of a supportive community

History Talk - International influences in Southampton throughout time

Tuesday 4 May / 7pm / £4.50

Join a fascinating online history talk with See Southampton tour guide Katie Belo dos Santos. This talk will encompass ten centuries of foreign influences in the city of Southampton: from merchants to royal visits in medieval and Tudor times, and from the French Huguenots to Paganini and Garibaldi in 1800s, not forgetting the two million troops who passed by in 1944 and our students from overseas!

Introduction to Acrylic Painting with Becks Porter - Online Class

A two Week Course - Monday 7 and 14 June / 7pm / £25

Learn a range of simple, but effective acrylic painting techniques and create a fabulous painting to impress your friends and family. These workshops are tried and tested and always get great results, with no prior experience needed. Completing the painting will take two sessions and you will be guided through each stage with demos and feedback. All ages welcome (under 16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult).

Tudor House History Club online

Each Monday until 24 May / 4.30pm / £7.50 each 

Discover Southampton’s past in our fun and interactive weekly sessions, exploring different historical themes with fascinating facts, activities, stories and crafts. You'll find out why Romans thought Dormice were so delicious, or how talking too much could have gotten you in trouble. These online sessions are designed for 7-12 yrs, although other ages may also enjoy them:

Ali's Summer Art Club online 

Each Wednesday until 26 May / 4.30pm / £7.50 each 

Join our fantastic after school art club where kids can get creative, have fun and learn about some fascinating artists and artworks, through games, challenges, and art projects. These online sessions are designed for 6-12 yrs, although other ages may also enjoy them:

History talk - Southampton's darkest hour: The Second World War

Tuesday 18 May / 7pm / £4.50

In the concluding part of our 'Southampton Through Time' series, our learning officer Andy Skinner will be exploring the history and significance of the Second World War to Southampton. This illustrated talk will explore some of the well-known stories of the conflict, such as the bombing of the Art Gallery, the Southampton Blitz and the use of the town in the aftermath of D-Day, and will also explore some of the less-well-known events of the war.

Tunde Jegede

Voyages of the Heart features 25 musicians from six music sounds: Gospel, Folk, Indian Classical, Soul, Opera and Reggae composed by talented Tunde Jegede. The piece beautifully blends these varied styles together to create a multi-layered musical journey which is reflective of Southampton’s multicultural population. Watch the Trailer.
