Your collective efforts to help lower the number of cases of COVID-19 in Southampton continue to make a difference.

Over 34,000 first doses have been given in Southampton, approximately 13% of the population (latest data as of 2nd February 2021).

This is an incredible effort and in his latest video message the Leader of the Council, Cllr Christopher Hammond, puts on record his thanks to our NHS staff and all those involved in the programme. You can watch that latest video message update on the latest situation in Southampton here.

We need the infection rate to continue to fall as the rollout of vaccines continues at pace.

questions feedback

Do you want to know what Southampton’s latest COVID-19 insights are, or find out more about the NHS vaccine roll out across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight?

You are invited to join our Local COVID-19 Outbreak Engagement Board next week, where they will meet to discuss the latest response to the virus and share current public health trends. There will be the opportunity for you to ask any questions you have about the impact of COVID-19 on the city and the response of the council and its partners, directly to members of the board.

The online meeting will be chaired by the Leader of the Council and will start at 5.30pm next Monday 8th February. You are invited to view all of the meeting, or you can join just for the live Q&A which is scheduled to begin from 6.30pm. You can submit questions at any time during the meeting.

Log in on the day and ask your questions via the chat function. We will do our best to answer all your questions live. But if we get a high number it may not be possible to cover everything in time. We will answer any questions left outstanding after the meeting by updating the COVID-19 FAQs on our website.

Self-isolate to protect your loved ones

self-isolation - testing - COVID - coronavirus - story - case study - mother - daughter

Julia and her mum Sheila live together in Southampton. In November, Julia received an update on her NHS COVID-19 smartphone app that someone in her bubble had tested positive. She knew how important it was to immediately self-isolate, because her mum is diabetic and therefore in a higher risk group.

They've made a short video about their experience self-isolating.

Though vaccines are being rolled out, it remains essential that we stay home and self-isolate during this lockdown period and:

  1. If you are contacted by the NHS COVID-19 app with a positive contact;
  2. If you have COVID symptoms.Book a free NHS COVID-19 test online
  3. After your test, go home and remain there until you are contacted with the results of the test and further instructions.

We need to keep our whole community safe, especially our most vulnerable, by staying home. Stick with it Southampton.

Some financial support is available if you are still working outside your home

Southampton Test & Trace extended

test & trace - covid- coronavirus

Southampton’s local Test and Trace team is here to support residents and help to get coronavirus under control. Since the pilot began in December last year, local call handlers, including health care professionals have dealt with 868 cases and successfully contacted 428 residents covering two thirds of the city. The Southampton test and Trace service will now operate across the whole of Southampton and has been extended to June following its success in reaching residents that the national NHS test and Trace Programme could not make contact with after an initial 32-hour period.

The Southampton Test and Trace team may call you on the dedicated number 023 82128701 if you have tested positive for COVID-19. This is to help notify anyone who you may have been in contact with and reduce the spread of the virus. Please answer when they call so that the local team can complete this important work and help keep coronavirus under control.

During the call handlers will also check if you need any support or assistance such as with food shopping, collecting medication or debt advice. Residents may also receive a text message from SotonCC asking people to call 023 82128701.
