Accessible activities for children and young people in Southampton

Keeping busy and active over the summer

Buzz Network

The summer holidays are here and for some of you that wont feel very different to the last three months. However, things are changing and slowly places are beginning to open up again so we hope that you are able to get out a bit more and make the most of the nice weather coming our way!

The Buzz Network is working behind the scenes with our providers to be able to get activities up and running again safely in line with Government regulations.

Our current Buzz Network Co-Ordinator, Beth Carter, will be going on maternity leave in
September. We are very excited to welcome Claire Pritchard to the team. Some of you may recognise or know her from Southampton Parent Carer Forum. She has been part of the Short Breaks journey that Buzz has been on since 2017 and is passionate about the children and families that we support. If you have any comments or suggestions about the Buzz Network, she would love to hear from you

An update on our Playschemes

Playschemes - toys

Although our current Playschemes with Rose Road and Mencap are running, they are running with reduced numbers of children and young people attending to be able to maintain social
distancing.

Places are being allocated to children and families who have the greatest need and they will have been contacted already. We'll let you know as soon as we can start safely welcoming more children and families back to our Playschemes.

Explore Southampton's history with fun activities

Mayflower accessible activities

As part of the Mayflower 400 activity programmes the Learning Team from Southampton Cultural Services will be offering Buzz network families free holiday workshops. Things have changed since we originally started planning so we are asking families to register their interest so we can organise sessions that work for you.

You may be able to come to us, we may be able to come to you or we might meet online.

However, we choose to work together we will be offering fun activities for all the family that teach you more about the history of Southampton and that meet your accessibility needs.

To register your interest please email us mentioning 'Mayflower400 Buzz Family sessions' by the end of 3rd August. Registration is open to individual families and groups within Southampton.
