Introducing "Your library from home"

Your library from home

Ancestry Library Edition now available from home

Ancestry

Ancestry Library Edition is now available to access from home for our library members.

After logging in to our catalogue with your borrower number and pin, you will see a link for Ancestry. This link will grant access to the full database that you would ordinarily only be able to access within one of our libraries. Through this database you will be able to search and view thousands of family records such as census, military records, births, marriages and deaths.

Thanks to Ancestry and our access provider, ProQuest, for organising this.

Who Else writes like...? & Who Next...?

Introducing two new resources to our digital library Who Else Writes Like...? and Who Next...?

Who Else

Who Else Writes Like...? is designed to answer the perennial question "I've read all the books by this author, who else writes like that?". Aimed at adult fiction readers who are seeking new names to try, and while no author writes exactly like another, the selection of alternatives provided here should help to narrow the choices.

Who Next...?  is specially designed to help parents, teachers and librarians in encouraging children and young people to explore the world of reading. The most popular titles by each author are listed and the information is arranged in four age groups: 5-7, 8-11, 12-14 and 14+. The resource also suggests suitable titles for dyslexic and reluctant readers.

Both can be accessed completely free when you log in with your library card number.

Digital Reading Group

Digital Reading Group

Did you know we have an online reading group? Each month a new title is available to download via BorrowBox using your Southampton Library Card and pin number.

There will be no waiting list and each month's title will be available in both eBook and eAudiobook format to suit those that have a preference for either or maybe even both!

Throughout the month you will be able to discuss the book with others in the group online and at your own convenience.  Join the group on Facebook now.
