Greg Gilbert – A Gentle Shrug into Everything Greg Gilbert

Following on from Greg Gilbert’s solo exhibition, Through Sand, in 2015 this display shows the evolution of the artists’ work from miniature, photorealistic biro studies drawn from photographs to equally intricate but surreal imaginings. Find out more here.

Drawings from Southampton’s Collections

To complement the Greg Gilbert exhibition, and the drawings previously loaned from the Royal Collection, this space in the gallery presents works on paper and drawings from Southampton’s permanent collection. Exploring common themes found in the work of Leonardo da Vinci, this display examines the roles drawing has in artists’ practice. Find out more here.

In the Footsteps of a Genius: Responding to Leonardo da Vinci

In the Footsteps of a Genius: Responding to Leonardo da Vinci is a three week exhibition of work made throughout the duration of A Life in Drawing by students from local secondary schools, colleges and universities. Not only do these responses explore drawing as a medium but also draw upon science, technology, engineering and maths. This display is a great way to pay tribute to Leonardo and the creativity inspired by the work of a man who, 500 years on, is still having an impact on today’s thinking. Find out more here.
