Choral Clans: New FREE Vocal Workshops in Southampton
A new community singing project Choral Clans has started across Southampton. The project consists of vocal workshops coming together across city libraries to inspire families to sing together and enjoy the health and well-being benefits it brings.
The workshops take place on the first Saturday of every month from October to July and are FREE to attend. Experience or the ability to read music is not necessary for this multi-generational a capella singing opportunity - only bags of enthusiasm!
The workshops are ideal for family groups, be that parents with children, grandparents, distant cousins and even friends. Children from primary school age and up are welcome to attend, however an adult must accompany them.

Southampton students return from Berlin Exchange
11 Southampton Music Hub students have returned to the UK after
visiting Berlin, Germany for the final part of their UK-German musical exchange
project.
Working
together with pupils from the Anne Frank Gymnasium - Berlin, the
Southampton students took part in the six month project that included a residential
week, various rehearsals and performances of the specially commissioned
musical “Who Writes History?”. The musical explores the “Kindertransport” of
1938-40 where 10,000 refugee children travelled alone from Germany to
England to escape the Nazi regime.
Among the
300+ people in attendance at the musical’s premier at St Anne’s School,
Southampton were Walter and Herta Kammerling, who both travelled over to
England on the Kindertransport. At the end of the performance Walter gave a moving talk which enabled both students at the school and those involved
in the project to put the work in a historical context.
The exchange
project was supported by the UK-German Connection, the WISTA and the Axel Springer Foundation. It is the direct successor of previous
musical theatre project on the Diary of Anne Frank.
