April Highlights:

Spotlight on: Music at Kanes Hill Primary School

Children at Kanes Hill Primary are looking for their first hit single!  The school’s two choirs joined together with Hightown Primary choir and spent a day with SoCo at The Courthouse in Eastleigh recording their own version of ‘Something Inside So Strong’.  Jon at SoCo Music Project was fantastic in helping the project come to life and working out how to record so many children!   The children were really patient singing their version many times over and had an amazing experience:

It was tiring but I kept going.  We heard the song at the end and it was really good! - Jono (Y2)

It was fun because we were singing together like one big family. I am so excited and when our song comes out I’m going to tell everyone! - Abi (Y4)

Look out for the singers on iTunes and Amazon in the new first weeks to download their first single.

In addition to a vibrant singing community, children at Kanes Hill enjoy listening to live music and sharing their own musical talents. Y5 children are currently composing minimalist pieces based on the London Sinfonietta Concert, Y4 instrumentalists are preparing for the In2music extravaganza while Y3 are creating dances for their 10 Pieces concert in June.  Music lessons are woven into their creative curriculum.

Kanes Hill will be holding their final concert for parents at The Berry Theatre in July where families will be able to enjoy both choirs, Y3 recorder players, In2music and instrumental performances along with dance groups, gymnastics, drama and performance poetry.
