We're inviting employers and managers to complete the 5 steps of HSE's Working Minds campaign over the course of April and have everything you need to get started, for free.

  • reach out and have conversations
  • recognise the signs and causes of stress
  • respond to any risks identified by agreeing action points
  • reflect on the actions taken – have things improved?
  • make it routine to check back in on how things are going

HMRC publishes action plan for working with VCSE's

HMRC has for the first time published an action plan for working with VCSE's on procurement. The plan outlines initiatives they will be putting in place to raise the proportion of HMRC procurement expenditure with voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs). There are 5 main areas of focus:

  • Promoting the VCSE agenda
  • Simplifying the procurement process
  • VCSE engagement
  • Supply chain engagement
  • Improving VCSE data collection

They will be working with Social Enterprise UK to identify categories within HMRC spend where VCSEs are currently underutilised, in order to develop targeted initiatives for engagement. They also plan to hold training session with commissioners to share best practice on engaging VCSEs within procurements.

Make sure you have the right workplace facilities available

All employers must provide toilets, washbasins and other welfare facilities that workers require.

Employers must also provide a working environment that's healthy and safe for everyone in the workplace, including disabled people.

This means you must have:

  • welfare facilities
  • a healthy working environment
  • a safe workplace

Find out in more detail what you must provide for a safe and healthy workplace.

Employers are also required to provide enough toilets and washbasins for those expected to use them. Follow our guidance for toilets and washing facilities
