*New Development for Joint Training*

Image of grass with text Something New

Joint Training is currently part of a Transformation Project to provide joined up learning across both Adults and Children’s services,

We have been increasingly asked to provide training for workers supporting children and young people as well as adults and we are joining with our Children's Services training colleagues to expand our training offer in response to this.

This new co-ordinated approach will support the development of an even more joined-up approach to learning, which will maximise resources and provide opportunities to income generate to support the training offer. This will bring together exciting new opportunities to extend our training offer over a range of subjects to a wider learner group.

Safeguarding is a key area we will be working together on.  Children, young people and adults exist in families and community groups.  A shared understanding of the risks and complexities of safeguarding needs to be developed to maximise opportunities to reduce risks and potentially save lives.

Transformation Project progress to date:

Learning now available with an All-Age approach includes:

  • Mental Health First Aid Youth
  • Children & Young People Self-Harm
  • Suicide First Aid: children and young people
  • Autism in Young people – Trauma and Life Transitioning
  • Working with Childhood Trauma and Abuse
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People Aware

Crisis Prevention Institute de-escalation / restraint reduction training is now available to Education

We are recruiting to a new all age safeguarding post

We will keep you up to date with news about this developing service.

Makaton symbols and signs

man in pink shirt showing three useful makaton signs

Did you know that over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton symbols and signs, either as their main method of communication or as a way to support speech.

Makaton is increasingly used by the general public to aid communication, as well as by children and adults with communication and learning difficulties and the community around them, for example, teachers, health professionals, friends, public service bodies etc.

Makaton has been shown to be useful for all sorts of people, including those who struggle with understanding concepts, those who have poor literacy skills and grammatical knowledge, and those with English as an Additional Language. By using Makaton, children and adults can take a more active part in life, because communication and language are the key to everything we do and learn.

For information on our two day Makaton Level 1 & Level 2 course taking place on 22-23 May 2024 please see Makaton L1 & L2 - course information
