From the end of March 2024, we are changing our name to the ‘ Shropshire Growth Hub’.
For the last 8 years we have been pleased to work alongside our colleagues at the LEP in delivering business support services to the many wonderful businesses in the county. However, following the government’s announcement last summer that it will no longer fund LEPs from March 2024, the Growth Hub will move ‘in-house’ and come under the responsibility of Shropshire Council from 1st April.
Our many clients will see no change in the services we provide. Emma and Anna will still be on hand to provide a wide range of events, support, information and advice.
As one phase ends, another one begins, and we are truly excited about the future for the newly-named Shropshire Growth Hub!

Does your business employ people? If the answer is ‘yes’, you will need to change how you manage flexible working requests from your employees. All employees have the legal right to request flexible working – not just parents and carers.
From 6 April 2024 employees will be able to make a statutory request to make permanent changes to their contract from their first day of employment. This means that from day one, they can ask an employer for changes to how long, when and where they work.
Employees will also be able to make two requests in any twelve-month period, rather than the current one request.
In addition, you will be required to make a decision on the request within two months of receiving it. Currently you have three months.

Do you want to improve your energy efficiency, the Marches Energy Grant Programme can help do just that.
The programme can help businesses by providing a free decarbonisation review, during which expert advisors will review current energy usage and provide advice on next steps.
The report provided will offer tailored recommendations to suit the organisation that will not only save operating costs, but also reduce carbon footprint - whether it’s switching to LED lights, upgrading machinery, or installing renewable measures like solar panels.
Businesses that have received a decarbonisation review will gain access to apply for grant funding to implement your energy saving changes.
Marches Energy Grant - Marches Growth Hub

Launched in November 2022, the Age-friendly Employer Pledge is a nationwide programme for employers who recognise the importance and value of older workers. Employers in all sectors, including councils are facing challenges with vacancy rates at a record high and a demand on skills and labour shortages.
More people are working later in life, but older workers often face prejudice and are overlooked. The pledge supports employers to take action to improve the recruitment, retention and development of workers over the age of 50.
The Local Government Association, in partnership with the Centre for Ageing Better, is hosting an event from 10:00 – 11:15am on 27 February about the ‘Introduction to the Age-friendly Employer Pledge’. The virtual session is government funded and will focus on good practice in hiring age positively.
Attendance is recommended for recruitment and HR teams.
