Our budget consultation has now launched. This is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts on how we can achieve the £50m spending reductions that we must make before 2025. The themes include increasing efficiency, increasing income, reducing third-party spending and making sure that we are the right size as an organisation.
This is not us making decisions right now, but asking for your feedback, and the public's feedback, on a very wide range of services that the council runs, using examples from other local authorities.
Read more and share your thoughts via our Get Involved portal.
The survey should take less than 20 minutes and is open until 28 January 2024. Every voice matters.

An exciting new Marketing Apprenticeship has been launched.
Recently approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships the new Multi-Channel Marketer combines two previous routes, Digital Marketer and Marketing Assistant. Apprentices following this new standard will become skilled in all aspects and have the opportunity to develop and implement marketing campaigns.
The first group will begin at SBC Training at the end of January and new learners and employers are currently being signed up to the programme.
Colin Thaw, Managing Director said “We are really pleased to offer this new apprenticeship standard. We have already enhanced the programme which we offer to our Digital Marketers by including video production and creative writing. This new standard will further enhance the skills employers ask for. Currently 90% of our Marketing Apprentices are achieving passes with distinctions and we aim to continue to develop the new apprentices to that same level.”
Employers or young people who are interested in Marketing Apprenticeships can find out more by contacting enquiries@sbctraining.co.uk

The West Midlands is to become the first UK region to receive new ‘growth zone’ powers, which the combined authority said could generate £1.7bn.
The councils that host the three new growth zones will be able to retain 100% of business rates for 25 years.
The powers were agreed as part of the Government’s ‘deeper devolution’ deal with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Join us for Shropshire Leadership Conference on Tuesday 16 April at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn as we explore the Future of Leadership.
Leaders from across the region will gather for a mix of thought-provoking speakers and insightful masterclasses and workshops in a relaxed atmosphere that's just perfect for dynamic networking.
High-profile and influential keynote speakers, industry and field experts will take to the stage to inspire, challenge, and evolve your thinking about the future of leadership focusing on belief in potential, change and technology.
