Dear All,
As we near the Christmas break, we are reflecting on the work Vibrant Shropshire has done so far this year. Since I joined the team in July, we have organised our first Vibrant Shropshire funding scheme, held a launch event, had our first training workshop, developed a partnership scheme, created our Vibrant Shropshire webpages and begun this newsletter, of course.
Already, we are beginning to look forward to what is to come in 2024.
January is sure to be a busy month; the Vibrant Shropshire Board will be reviewing the funding applications from the Vibrant Shropshire Grant Scheme and we will be holding our next training workshop (more on that below). We will also be developing our working groups and partnerships further next year too.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has attended one of our events, applied for our funding, helped us with a project, became a partner or simply signed up to receive this newsletter. Your support means so much to us.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Alice Machin, Vibrant Shropshire Cultural Compact Officer
On Thursday 18th January at 4pm, we are holding a 2 hour workshop on Creative Health.
Led by Jane Hearst, Midlands Representative for the National Centre for Creative Health (NCCH), this workshop will introduce participants to the term 'Creative Health' and demonstrate how arts and culture can have a positive impact on people's health and wellbeing.
Creative Health covers a range of artistic health-benefiting activities, along with innovative approaches to health and social care.
Jane will share a variety of examples of Creative Health provisions to help participants appreciate the breadth of work happening within this space and the way it is communicated across different health and cultural systems. Participants will be invited to consider their own creative practices or hobbies and how they impact on health and wellbeing.
After a short break, Joseph Schneider, Director of Rural Art Hub, will welcome participants back with a short interactive activity demonstrating the benefits of art and culture to us all.

On Tuesday 5th December, we held a webinar on Overcoming Barriers to Participation in Culture. The webinar was led by two of our board members, Zoe Partington and Hannah Prior, who have lived and professional experience around the topic of accessibility and inclusion.
During the webinar, we discussed the types of barriers that different communities face and discussed the steps that groups and organisations can take to overcome these.
The webinar was recorded and is now available to watch back on YouTube. You can watch it by clicking the button below:
The deadline for our Vibrant Shropshire Small Grants Funding closed on 11th December at 12pm. We are delighted with the response we have had and the Board are now busy reading through applications ready to make a decision in January.
Thank you to everyone that applied for funding and thank you to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for funding this grant scheme.
If you are interested in applying for our funding for cultural projects in Shropshire, there will be another round of funding available in March 2024.
