Welcome to our ‘Shropshire Leisure Time’ monthly newsletter,which will keep our leisure centre customers up to date with what is happening at each centre.

Step 4 of lifting restrictions for our centres

While some COVID restrictions have lifted we would encourage our customers to follow these steps below to help keep our customers and staff safe:

HAF Funding for SLT Active Kids

We are excited to announce that we have been successful in our application for HAF funding.

Part of the government’s expanded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme being delivered across Shropshire.

HAF Vouchers can be used at SpArC Bishops Castle Leisure Centre and Roman Roads Sports centre.

Church Stretton Leisure Centre

We are delighted to welcome back children's swimming lessons, feedback so far has been fantastic and we still have some spaces left. A big thank you to our swimming teachers, staff and children.

Interested in children's swimming lessons?

Lessons are currently available for stages 3-7, and we are welcoming back stages 1 & 2 with intensive lessons over the Summer Holidays.

Much Wenlock Leisure Centre

We are excited to announce our Atlantis Inflatable

New for this summer the Atlantis inflatable obstacle course has arrived. Fun for the whole family, we have the following weekly sessions over the summer holidays:

Wednesday 11am -12pm

Friday 11am -12pm & 12.15pm-1.15pm

Sunday 2.45pm -3.45pm & 4pm -5pm

£5.40 for Adults & £3.30 juniors

✅Please continue to pre-book your activity

✅Track and Trace QR posters will continue to be provided

✅Sanitising stations will still be available and we ask that you sanitise your hands on arrival and throughout your visit

✅Contactless or card payment where possible

✅Personal space to be respected

✅Customers to arrive swim ready

✅Changing room available after your swim only

✅Clean equipment before & after use

✅Customers encouraged to wear a face mask in our facilities

❌No Spectators permitted

❌ No Showers available

Roman Road Sports Centre

We are pleased to announce the return of Shropshire Leisure Time Active Kids this summer, places are available throughout the Summer Holidays from Monday 19th July to Friday 3rd September 2021

Thursday 19^th August 11am-12pm Clay in a box painting session

Thursday 26^th August 9.15am – 12pm– Ludlow fringe - clay modelling of snails, badge making with a snail theme, stop frame animation, paper snails and snail headdress

Friday 27^th August 1.15pm – 3.15pm Inclusive Dance session

Exercise on Referral Information

The Exercise on Referral Scheme is a 12-week programme which consists of:
• an initial consultation
• a 12-week exercise programme, tailored to meet
individual needs
• a final reassessment

Shrewsbury Severn Bridges 10k Road Race CANCELLED

Race update

We've reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s Seven Bridges 10k Road Race due to the current climate. Despite government restrictions being lifted, we feel the safety of participants, staff, spectators and volunteers is our priority. However, we do plan to run this event in 2022 and look forward to seeing you all then.

Refunds

All participants who entered this year's event will be issued with a full refund. All refunds should be issued by the end of August. If you have not received yours by this time, please email leisure@shropshire.gov.uk.

Playing Pitch and Outdoor Sports Strategy

The Playing Pitch & Outdoor Sports Strategy (PPOSS) for Shropshire builds upon the preceding assessment report.

It provides a clear, strategic framework for the maintenance and improvement of existing playing pitch and accompanying ancillary facilities up to 2038 (in line with the Local Plan Review).

Lateral Flow home testing kits

You can now pick up Lateral Flow testing kits at our Leisure Centres. Just call in and ask a member of staff , or collect when you arrive for your session.

Rapid lateral flow tests help to find cases in people who may have no symptoms but are still infectious and can give the virus to others.

Understanding Step 4 coronavirus restrictions

We've updated our frequently asked questions

We’ve now moved into Step 4 of the government's roadmap for the easing of lockdown restrictions in England. This means that:

There are no set restrictions on how many people can take part in sport and physical activity, indoors and outdoors
All forms of activities can take place without set restrictions. We advise you refer to your national governing body’s guidance where relevant
All sports facilities can open, including ancillary facilities
There are no indoor capacity limits, however, venues may put in place some restrictions and guidance for enclosed areas
Organised sport participation events such as (but not limited to) races, rides and organised walks can take place outdoors with no capacity caps for participants or spectators
Government guidance for sport and physical activity will provide advice on how to reduce transmission when you're exercising.
