Are you a passionate GP who understands how physical
activity can make a real difference to people’s health and wellbeing? Are you
keen to teach, engage and inspire others to feel the same? Are you eager to be
part of creating a social movement of professionals who help everybody get active
every day?
The GP Clinical Champion role is an exciting 6 month
fixed term opportunity for a practising GP who recognises the potential of
physical activity for clinical impact and is experienced with incorporating
physical activity into patient care to strengthen regional clinical capacity
and appetite to support adult physical activity behaviour change.
With every step taken at Shrewsbury Memory Walk, you will help change the lives of people affected by dementia – now and in the future. Register yourself or a team, and start fundraising today!
"Shrewsbury Memory Walk takes place at Attingham Park, a beautiful National Trust park. It’s our walk with a community feel, smaller in size but together we will walk for a world without dementia. There are two routes available, approximately 1.5km and 5km. While both routes have some gravel and hills, the 1.5km route is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs but the longer route is not accessible. The routes are subject to change."
A helpful national guide is now available on best practice in the use of language when talking or writing about people living with dementia.
The “Dementia Words Matter” guide has been written by people who are themselves living with dementia. It sets out the words and descriptions that they would prefer are avoided by the media and by organisations.

Government announces delay to Care Act funding reform
Funding reform was due to come into force in April 2016 as part of the Care Act. However, the Government has decided to delay implementation until April 2020.
The Government says that the delay will allow time to be taken to ensure that everyone is ready to introduce the new system and to look at what more can be done to support people with the costs of care.
Shropshire’s libraries are a mine of information when it comes to helping residents to look after their health. All branches offer a wide range of self-help books on diagnosed conditions, together with free use of computers to access health websites and the Shropshire Community Directory.
