 16 Days of Action/Activism:
The "16 Days of Action/Activism" is an international campaign to end gender-based violence, running annually from November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10th (Human Rights Day). Below we have outlined events in Sheffield:
Tuesday 25th November:
Attend a free Safeguarding Workshop: Safe and Together on the approach that aims to improve the domestic abuse response to a whole family.
Tuesday 25th November:
There is a White Ribbon in Education event happening in Sheffield, with several local schools attending.
Thursday 27th November:
Attend Cranstoun's free webinar on working with perpetrators. Email wgrocott@cranstoun.org.uk to attend.
Friday 28th November:
Attend the Tackling VAWG Conference taking place in the Town Hall with guest Jess Philips MP. Tickets cost £11.55 and can be purchased here.
Friday 28th November:
Attend Cranstoun's open day from 11am- 3pm at C15 Taylor’s Court, Parkgate, Rotherham. Email epotts@cranstoun.org.uk to find out more.
Thursday 4th December:
Attend the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Forum at 6pm at Sheffield Town Hall or online. This is an open city forum for all women (including trans women and those with non-binary gender identities). Email dact@sheffield.gov.uk to find out more.
Monthly VAWG Vigil:
Each month we come together to remember the lives lost to male violence. This happens on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm on the steps of the Town Hall.
The next VAWG vigil will be Thursday 4th December before the VAWG Forum.
 Sheffield News and Updates:
Sheffield Hospitals Charity has been awarded over £240,000 to deliver CARE (Culture, Awareness, Response, Empowerment), in order to transform the NHS’s approach to supporting employees affected by domestic abuse.
CARE has been co-created by Sheffield Hospitals Charity, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, and IDAS.
You can now find our 24/25 Annual Report on the Sheffield City Council Website. Key headline data includes:
- 11,563 helpline calls made to the Sheffield Domestic Abuse helpline.
- 99.2% of those accessing commissioned services felt the service they used helped them
- Over 400 Sheffield residents engaged in strategy development consultations in-person and online
This report also includes progress made this year, information on each commissioned service, local and national updates, learning from case reviews and plans for future work.
