You Said, We Did!
Responding to your feedback is something that we are striving to get better at as a team, and we are very keen to listen to your views and act on them. In this edition of the newsletter, we wanted to provide some examples in how we’ve been able to make a difference when responding to complaints and general customer feedback.
 Westfield Spring Clean
Following concerns and feedback regarding increased fly-tipping and littering within the Westfield area a ‘spring clean’ was organised, led by South East Neighbourhood Housing Team involving, South East Local Area Committee Team, other services across the council, partners, local councillors, external organisations and the community. Working in partnership, we provided skips across the estate for people to use, arranged community litter picking, deep cleaning of blocks, grass cutting, repairs to communal areas, removal of waste from the stream, assisted with untidy gardens and provided stalls for people to attend for advice and support.
The event was a great success, we managed to clear over 17 tonnes of waste, by filling 7 skips, 80 black bags from litter picking, and 4 trips to the waste disposal site. We resolved 25 untidy gardens, removed graffiti, cut back vegetation and removed 4 shopping trollies from the stream.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the day, for getting on board with the clean, which enabled us to have maximum impact on the day.
Going forward the Housing Estates team continue to have a daily presence of the estate keeping it clean and tidy and Repairs and Maintenance will continue their work on the communal areas of the large blocks. We encourage the community to use the correct methods for waste disposal which supports us to keep the area clean and tidy.
 Area Maintenance Allowance Work
Each year we are allocated limited funding to carry out improvements within the neighbourhood. If you are interested in sharing any ideas on how we can improve your neighbourhood, you are welcome to join us on a walkabout or share your comments on Have your say page: https://haveyoursay.sheffield.gov.uk/south-east-neighbourhood-team
One example of how we have used this funding is the installation of bollards on the banking between Norgreave Way, Halfway Drive and Park View Avenue.
Vehicles access to this plot of land was an ongoing concern reported by residents and local Councillors. This caused damage to the land and made it look unsightly.
Work was carried out to install metal railed bollards to plot on these roads to prevent vehicular access. The improvement has been huge, as can be seen in the photos below!
Local Area Housing Forum
As part of our engagement framework, we facilitate quarterly Local Area Housing Forums. Essentially, this forum is a platform for the team, colleagues across Sheffield City Council and key partners to talk to tenants about issues that are important to them.
We relaunched our Local Area Housing Forum in 2023, and since then we have talked about a number of wide-ranging topics such as Repairs, Community Safety, Asset Management, Rehousing and more…
We are always looking for new attendees, so if this would of an interest to you, or if you have any suggestions as to what you would like to discuss at this forum, please get in touch with the team: HousingSouthEast@sheffield.gov.uk / 0114 2930000.
Or alternatively, please visit our Have Your Say page and leave us a comment: https://haveyoursay.sheffield.gov.uk/south-east-neighbourhood-team
