Family Nature Sessions for families affected by cancer
Family nature sessions are for children, parents, carers and extended family who have been affected by cancer.
What to expect: These sessions will be outdoors with a campfire and shelter and will provide a wonderful opportunity to be creative together, learn a few new ways to spend time outdoors and learn a bit about nature.
There will be a range of nature-based activities to join in with depending on how you feel - or you can just sit by the fire and enjoy a warm drink.
As well as seasonal crafts, there'll be a campfire snack, warm drinks, a scavenger hunt or plant walk to explore the surrounding area.
Where: The sessions will take place in a little woodland glade just by the beautiful Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve Visitor Centre where accessible paths and welfare facilities are in place. Shire Brook Valley is situated in Woodhouse and is currently benefitting from over £1million of funding for the Species Survival Fund in a bid to restore vital habitats for wildlife.
The family nature sessions are facilitated by experienced outdoor practitioners and funded by Weston Park Cancer Charity.
This project is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
