The UK Government recently announced changes to the Winter Fuel Payment, replacing it with a means-tested benefit. This change means that anyone over state pension age who is receiving a qualifying benefit could receive either £200 or £300 to help with heating bills for winter 2024–2025.
If you’re over state pension age and not currently receiving one of the following benefits, we encourage you to check your eligibility before 21 December 2024:
- Pension Credit
- Universal Credit
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
