Over a year on from the launch of Sheffield City Council’s Clean Air Zone, annual average data for 2023 shows that the level of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) from road traffic pollution has fallen significantly across Sheffield.
A 16 per cent reduction in NO2 has been observed across the CAZ area since its launch. Beyond the CAZ area, an average NO2 reduction of 21 per cent has also been observed across the wider Sheffield district in 2023.

The Sheffield Grand Prix – Sheffield's very own city centre cycle race – took place this week (Wednesday 17th July) for its 10th year.
The event is part of the British Cycling National Circuit Race Series, attracting the UK’s top teams and riders to race around the 1.4km city centre circuit.

Sheffield City Council is seeking views on its updated gambling policy.
This policy will guide the Licensing Authority when considering applications for gambling and will provide guidance to applicants, objectors, Responsible Authorities (those that the Council consults with on applications) and any other interested party on the approach to gambling in the City.
The draft policy is on ‘Have Your Say Sheffield’ where you can read the draft policy and provide your comments on the consultation.
The consultation ends on Saturday 31st August 2024.
