The days are getting longer and so are Sheffield's events lists!
The Festival of the Outdoors kicks off next week starting a full month of activities celebrating Sheffield as an outdoor destination and there are plenty of other things happening across the city too.

The city celebrates its status at the Outdoor City throughout March.
There will be everything from large scale international sporting events to small community gatherings; from guided walks to some of the worlds hardest bouldering problems; from outdoor markets to film festivals.
Immerse yourself in explorations around the world at Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, explore a special bumper edition of the Pollen Market, watch the action as top climbers compete at the Rab Climbing Works International Festival and work up a thirst at a special running and beer event as part of Sheffield Beer Week plus much more!

The now famous daytime disco which started in Sheffield is back again for more fun.
Film-maker Jonny Owen recruited Line of Duty actor Vicky McClure and Jon McClure, frontman of Reverend and The Makers, together with some other friends to launch Day Fever.
The first event sold out in 48 hours and it has since made headlines - like this piece in The Guardian - and spread to other cities.

Sheffield Cathedral is hosting a commemoration of the second anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine through an emotional exhibition of pictures and art created by wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
There will be a short service followed by traditional Ukrainian music.

SOAR is hosting a free event to celebrate International Women's Day.
There will be stalls, activities and workshops including wellbeing coaches, health checks, exercises, massages, henna, music, food and more.

Join artist Tina Ramos Ekongo to create and decorate your own banner for International Women’s Day, inspired by campaigners for women's and girls' rights.
Tina will introduce you to the process and guide you step by step to make your own inspirational banner to take home. All ages and abilities are welcome, and all materials are included.

In celebration of International Women’s Day and 100 years of CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire, the National Trust is hosting a talk on the life and work of pioneer of the countryside movement Ethel Haythornthwaite followed by a guided walk up Higger Tor.

Dig Where You Stand is hosting a special interactive workshop called "Travelling Ayahs in Britain: un-silencing histories of ordinary women in extraordinary circumstances" led by Dr Arunima Datta and Women of Colour Azadi Collective.
This event will focus on a largely forgotten group in this story of movement and migration: South Asian travelling ayahs (servants and nannies), who travelled between India and Britain.
Delving into the stories of individual ayahs from a wide range of sources, Dr Datta will show how to excavate histories of silenced actors.

The Laura and Becky show is hosting an event on the theme of inspiring inclusion and shining a spotlight on women's achievements.
Speakers include Sophie Barker, Sheffield United Football Club manager, Jay Bhayani, one of Yorkshire's leading employment lawyers, Tracey Jackson deputy CEO of Roundabout Sheffield, and Ruth McDonald, Race Equality Business lead for Sheffield City Council.

Learn to spot subtle clues to identify trees and gain a deeper understanding of nature in this practical workshop.
The activity promises to bring winter walks alive and as well as identification skills you will also learn about some of the natural and cultural history associated with different trees.

Swing your partner and get down to tunes from the queerest ceilidh band in town. No dance experience necessary, just open arms! Everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity or sexuality.
Prior to the ceilidh there will be a free Rush Hour concert, with the founders of Queer Folk, Sophie Crawford and George Sansome. Queer Folk is an organisation that researches queer music and champions LGBTQIA+ musicians.
