 BiG Challenge Business Advisers
Our flagship enterprise competition The BiG Challenge kicks off again next month and we are looking for volunteer Business Advisers to support teams in developing and shaping their business ideas.
You will be matched with a school and work with them for the duration of the project, supporting them with the launch of the challenge and then meeting with teams on regular basis (to be agreed with the school), working with them as they develop and market their ideas.
For more information, click the button below or contact us on bigchallenge@sheffield.gov.uk.
As part of our commitment to building a network of volunteers which reflects, and benefits from, the diversity of our city, we are launching our first Diversity Monitoring Survey.
We are asking everyone who has engaged with us (whether you have taken part in an opportunity or not) if they could complete the survey to help us to build a picture of our network, and understand where we need to work to build more representation.
The survey is completely anonymous and should take around five minutes to complete. We are sure you will agree that this is an important piece of work to help young people benefiting from our campaign to see themselves represented by the volunteers they are engaging with.
We are kicking off our 2023/24 campaign with all schools, colleges, partners, providers and employers with a Celebration Event at the Workstation on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 September.
Please join us to look back on last year's successes and hear what we have planned for the new academic year, as well as an opportunity to network with like-minded people.
It is free to attend, but you will need to book on here or via the button below.
And if you would like to discuss the possibility of including some promotional materials for your organisation at the event, please contact us.
We have another What to Expect in Schools and Colleges online training session for anyone new to volunteering in schools and colleges on Wednesday 18 October at 11am.
This hour long session will give you an insight into what underpins our work, what's expected of you when you take part and an opportunity to ask any questions.
It's free to attend, but please book on here.
The National Videogame Museum sponsored the Creativity Award in the BiG Challenge 2023, offering an amazing prize of a day behind the scenes at the museum with a workshop creating a 'Star Object'.

They are looking for volunteer mentors who can work with young people over the course of the project (January - July 2024). This is an ongoing opportunity which can be tailored to your needs and availability, and full training will be provided by Endeavour.
