Sheffield News
A date has been arranged for Safe and Together Overview Day to further support Sheffield with the on-going development of a shared approach and language when working with families experiencing domestic abuse. This child-centred model derives its name from the concept that children are best served when we can work toward keeping them safe and together with the non-offending parent - the adult domestic abuse survivor. The Safe & Together Model provides a framework for partnering with domestic abuse survivors and intervening with domestic abuse perpetrators in order to enhance the safety and wellbeing of children
Aims of the day:
- To provide participants with an introduction to, and overview of, the Safe & Together Model.
- To provides participants with information about creating a domestic abuse-informed family serving system
- Introduce the principles and components of the Safe & Together Model
- Provide information about the framework behind competency-building in a family serving system around domestic abuse.

Domestic Homicide Reviews & Serious Incident Reviews News
Domestic Abuse Serious Incident Review Adult 9 was a case which showed that there is an overlap between the signs and indictors for coercive control, modern slavery (domestic servitude) and forced marriage. The review also demonstrated the importance of professional curiosity where there are indications of, or concerns about modern slavery and forced marriage.
For further reading or more information there are useful resources and links regarding modern slavery on the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s website and there is a national Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700. For information on Forced Marriage and how to get help see IDAS and Ashiana Sheffield.
