Sheffield Adult Social Care Festival of Involvement
Throughout June and July, we’re running a series of conversations with local people about how we can work together to shape and improve our services.
We'll be looking at a range of services and topics throughout our festival, all aiming to explore ways for people to get involved in different areas of adult social care. Some sessions are in person during the day and others are in the evening on zoom.
Join us for our Festival Launch Event on Tuesday 6 June, on What Matters to You Day to explore what good involvement looks like and where the opportunities may lie. Or perhaps you’ve got an interest in safeguarding, new tech, care homes or other supported housing? We’ll also be looking at how you can help us assess and report on how well our services are doing.
Browse through the programme, book your place below and join the conversation!

Improving Direct Payments
We have started a Direct Payment Improvement Programme with local people and partners, with a range of opportunities to get involved.
Come along to an event hosted by Disability Sheffield on Monday 22 May, 9.30-11.30am, at The Circle S1 4FW, to help build a new PA register that will work for you.
You can also join the Direct Payment Market Group which is improving and developing the choice of services for people who have a support plan and buy their care and support. Or you can help to review and improve how we audit Direct Payments to check how well they are working.

Learning Disabilities Partnership Board elections
This Partnership Board brings together local community members and partner agencies to help make things better for everyone with learning disabilities and their families in Sheffield.
It’s about to undergo a major change, as we re-introduce elections for people with learning disabilities and carers. Half the board will be for people with learning disabilities, with 17 places available. The closing date for applications to be a rep is Friday 26 May and election day will be Tuesday 27 June.

Help improve information on local services
We’re looking for people to help review and improve the Sheffield Directory, our information and advice website.
We need help to look at what is missing, what is wrong or out-of-date and how the website can help people to take part in their community and help each other. Payments and expenses are available.
Nominate someone for a Dignity Award
Do you know someone who works in Sheffield’s adult social care sector who deserves to be celebrated for the job they do? Nominate them for a Dignity Award! The deadline is Wednesday 31 May.
Or if you’re currently receiving support, or care for someone who does, why not join our panel of judges for the Awards? Judging will take place in June and we offer payment for your time plus expenses.

Give student placements in social care a boost
Did you know there are hardly any placements for student healthcare workers in adult social care? We all know how important joined up care is. So a new group is looking to increase local opportunities to enable students to build a more rounded understanding of support needs and be better prepared to deliver integrated care.
The group is looking for someone receiving social care support and an unpaid carer to help advise over the next nine months on making placements work. Payment and expenses are available.
