Watering street trees in hot weather

With more hot weather forecast this week, our street trees could benefit from extra watering.

We already water young street trees regularly as part of our programme of works, but in high temperatures and dry conditions, extra watering can help trees flourish.

Young trees should be watered either early in the morning or later in the evening, using recycled water only. 

Resurfacing programme

Our resurfacing programme is continuing across the city on both roads and pavements. 

We try to minimise disruption whilst our works are taking place and our on street signs give road users more information about any diversions.

Grass cutting

Our grass cutting programme allows us to maintain sight lines at road junctions, ensure safe access routes and prevent the build-up of litter on verges across the city.

The schedule can be impacted by factors such as the weather, the number of teams we have available or a build-up of litter or longer grass which takes more time to cut.

We update the programme online regularly so that you can see where we will be working and when.

Parkway & M1 junction closures

The Rotherham to Sheffield A630 Parkway and M1 Junction 33 slip roads will have a series of weekend closures throughout August 2022 as improvement works continue.

Drivers are advised to plan their travel on these days as diversions will be in place and traffic delays are expected.
