How did your Nan cook Christmas dinner?
Exploring vintage recipe books
Tuesday 7th December, 11am – 12noon Central Library Carpenter Room
In the build up to Christmas, join us for an illustrated talk about vintage cookery books where no recipes will be demonstrated or advice given. Instead, Val Hewson will look at what recipe books tells us about our mothers' and grandmothers' lives, and at what they pass on to us.

A New Christmas Carol: Interactive Storytelling workshops with the National Videogame Museum
Central Children’s Library Saturday mornings
Do you want to help rewrite Scrooge’s Christmas adventures and learn how to create an interactive story in Twine? The National Videogame Museum and Sheffield Libraries are running free workshops this winter that will show how to do just that! Learn about Twine, create a story and submit it to the NVM!
Your submissions will be put together in a playable story based on A Christmas Carol, so you can spot your own submission and read stories submitted by others. This game will be able to play online and will also be showcased in Sheffield Library in a playable arcade cabinet.
Will the Ghost of Christmas Past take Scrooge to visit the dinosaurs… Or maybe the Ghost of Christmas Future will be opening presents on a spaceship? Where will you take Scrooge this Christmas?
