Sheffield has been successfully awarded the full amount requested from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, with £20m allocated to redeveloping historic Castlegate, as well as £17m for investment in Attercliffe.
Little Amal
Little Amal will get a true Yorkshire welcome as she makes her penultimate stop on her journey from Turkey to Manchester. Today, October 29, Little Amal, who at 3.5metres high is anything but little, will come to visit Sheffield, the first City of Sanctuary.
Full Council Meeting
Councillor Terry Fox, Leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “The Council meeting that was scheduled for Wednesday 3 November has been postponed."
 On Monday 1st November, Sheffield’s Household Waste Recycling Centres will change to their winter opening hours.
Supertram on High Street
Sheffield City Council’s leader has welcomed the news that Wednesday’s budget will include £570m for transport projects in South Yorkshire – including around £200m for Sheffield.
New neighbourhood plan for Dore
Residents in Dore Neighbourhood Plan Area had the opportunity to have their say on how their communities will be shaped in the future, when they voted in a referendum on a Neighbourhood Plan produced by the community for the area on 12 August.
Group C Fixtures
Following the live draw on BBC1 last night, the group stage fixtures have now been confirmed and Sheffield will host matches between the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. And we're keeping everything crossed for the exciting possibility of an England semi-final at Bramall Lane - come on Lionesses!
With the draw complete the public ballot for tickets is now open, you can apply for tickets at all fixtures from now up to 16 November.
Broughton Lane footbridge
Streets Ahead has recently completed refurbishment of the steelwork on two bridges in Sheffield as part of the city’s highway maintenance programme.
Sheffield's Director of Public Health, Greg Fell, has reminded families to take Covid-19 tests before pupils return to school on Monday and then continue to test twice weekly.
Testing will help us to manage transmission of the virus as much as possible and reduce the number of cases.
 Hedgerow Market
Hedgerow Market has been rescheduled for the 4th December and will take place on Division St, hosting a range of artisan stalls and produce. The market was originally planned to take place earlier this month. Hedgerow organisers will confirm more details soon.
In last year’s referendum the people of Sheffield voted for a change to how our Council is run – choosing a committee system to replace the leader-cabinet model.
We’re now holding regular public engagement sessions to get your thoughts on how the new system should work. The next ones are now open for bookings:
- Monday 8 November, 17.30-19.30 at Burngreave Vestry Hall
- Wednesday 24 November, 10.00-12.00 virtual meeting online
Sessions are taking place alternately online and at venues around Sheffield. As soon as we have more venues and times confirmed you will be able to book through our Eventbrite pages.
