Exciting Times for Westfield

Work has started on a new playground.

Spearheaded by residents, the park will have a bike and scoot track, play equipment and soft landscaping, providing the perfect space for families to enjoy. To read more information on the playground https://bit.ly/3wsxdYg

Housing and Neighbourhoods Partnership Group HNPG

HNPG via Zoom

If you want to know more about the services you receive as a Tenant or Leaseholder this is the meeting for you. HNPG focusses on different topics each month. It covers the whole range of services across Housing and Neighbourhoods including Repairs, ASB and how the Rent collected is spent in Sheffield. HNPG welcomes SCC tenants and Leaseholders from across the city.

The next meeting is Tuesday 21 September and starts at 10:00am.

The meeting will be led by Head of Neighbourhood Services Dean Fearon.

Topics will include a review of tenant services.

A discussion about the Housing + model and what's important to you.

HNPG previous meeting update

The August HNPG focussed on two topics;

1. A briefing on the work of the Private Housing Standards Team

A presentation was given explaining the role of the Private Housing Standards Team who work with private landlords across the city.

2. Income Management Team Consultation

The Income Management Team asked attendees to share their experiences of contacting the Housing and Neighbourhoods Service to ;

Pay a debt
Set up a regular payment
Set up and manage Direct Debit
Request financial support
Query a balance or statement
Anything else relating to your financial transactions with us

The aim of this exercise is t better understand what tenants' experience feels like so we can use this insight as we review our processes and systems and try to make them easier to use. This is your opportunity to tell us about your experiences

Funding News

A reminder about the South Yorkshire Health & Wellbeing Mayoral Community Fund.

South Yorkshire Mayor Dan Jarvis wants community groups in the region to advance themes around health and wellbeing and has pledged a significant financial amount to support this.

For community groups in South Yorkshire, this means they can apply for funding up to £10,000 to help support:

Mental health
Social and green social prescribing
Physical well-being
Engaging young people in activities addressing health and well-being

There are a few important notes to remember:

The deadline for applications is Monday 13th September at 9am
Grant funding must be spent before the end of May 2022

Did you know we have our own Housing and Neighbourhoods Facebook page?

We’ve reached almost 5,000 followers and the page is getting more and more active with comments and queries. It’s updated daily with useful information about the Housing Service changes, Covid-19, NHS, TARAs (Tenants and Residents Associations), Community Hubs, the Police and training opportunities from our partner organisations.

A number of TARAs have also recently launched their own Facebook pages to provide their local tenants, leaseholders and residents with vital news, information and updates from our service, along with offers of help and support from local Community Hubs and Mutual Aid Groups.

Local Area Committees LACs
