Household Waste Recycling Centres
Sheffield’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), are open over the Easter Bank Holiday with extended opening hours and the temporary provision of an additional site.
To help increase availability over the Easter Bank Holiday all five sites will open at 9.30am, with some closing as late as 8pm. In addition, on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th April only, a temporary HWRC will be operating at Tinsley for certain types of waste.
Looking after our parks
This week the sun brought lots and lots of people out in to our parks, and with it lots and lots of rubbish. We know most people love our parks and do the right thing by binning or bagging and taking away, which we are very grateful for.
After removing around 7 tonnes of waste on Wednesday morning from Endcliffe Park alone, we're reminding everyone, if you're out and about this Easter (or any day in fact) please get rid of your waste responsibly.
We also want to thank all the amazing local volunteers who help us look after our wonderful green spaces.
Grants awarded to support freelance arts and culture workers
83 freelance arts and culture workers based in Sheffield are benefiting from cash support to adapt their businesses and develop their creative practice through research and development, training or upskilling and creating new work.
The funding, from Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Culture Consortium members, was developed in response to the impact of Covid on those working independently in the cultural industries.
Town Hall
The Government’s roadmap out of lockdown moves on a stage on Monday 29 March as part of the country’s slow easing out of Covid restrictions.
From Monday outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households will be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside.
Testing is a vital part in our fight against the spread of Covid-19 and to help reduce the rate of people contracting the virus, your help is still needed as much as ever.
You can get a test at one of six testing centres by booking an appointment in advance.
Director of Public Health Greg Fell
Greg Fell, Director of Public Health in Sheffield, outlines Sheffield's weekly position with the latest epidemiology information and a vaccination programme update. He also looks at Sheffield's roadmap strategy out of lockdown, as restrictions started to ease from Monday 29 March.
