Annual reviews
More than 360 SENCOs and professionals took part in our EHC Plan annual review training in February. More sessions will be booked for later this year.

Help share information with your families:

Neuro disability training for early years professionals
Parent-led training for early years professionals to help identify, support, and signpost families of young children with neuro disabilities in Sheffield.
The training aims to:
- Raise awareness of the early signs of neurodevelopmental conditions
- Help early years staff feel more confident discussing concerns with parents
- Encourage timely referrals
- Improve knowledge of support services to signpost families to.
Places are filling up fast and are on a first come first served basis.
Delivered by Sheffield Parent Carer Forum, in partnership with Sheffield City Council and NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group.

SSGe and graduated approach
The final training session this spring on the Sheffield Support Grid (SSG) and graduated approach is on 27 April 2021.
An online resource is available to everyone in advance.

Introduction to Dyslexia
Our new SENCO resource provides:
- An introduction to dyslexia
- Wave 1 provision for children with dyslexia
- Strategies and approaches to support children and young people
It is on the inclusion taskforce section of the Learn Sheffield website.

Autism resources
Sheffield Children’s Hospital has produced resources for families whose child is waiting for an assessment for possible Autism, or another neuro developmental condition.
The resources are also suitable for children and young people with a diagnosis.
They include a new guide to Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments.

Workouts for children with disabilities
The physio and occupational therapy team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital have made videos for workouts for children with disabilities.

Information about the Covid vaccine for people with a learning disability and autistic people
People with learning disabilities are now within the priority cohort to receive the Covid vaccination. The NHS has produced a video about the vaccine for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Please share it with your colleagues and families.

Deadline extended to apply for short break grant
Parents and carers: if you haven’t applied yet, you can apply for a short break grant for 2020/21 up to 31 March.
- If you already have the grant, you now have until 31 May to spend the money.
- If you can no longer do your planned activity because of Covid-19, you can use the grant for something else – provided you comply with our guidance notes. Before doing this, please contact us by email or call 0114 273 6032 so we can update our records.
