Heavy rain is forecast throughout the night tonight and is set to continue until Thursday. We will be providing updates throughout this period so residents feel safe and informed on the latest road closures and areas affected.

For all flooding updates, visit our dedicated flooding page.

Rain is expected to start this evening, 19 January and continue until Thursday 21st. We are advising people to travel only where absolutely necessary and only for essential reasons, in line with current Covid restrictions.

Vaccination centres are still open and getting to your appointment is classed as essential travel. We are advising people to still attend, unless your area is badly affected by the weather and it is unsafe for you to travel.

Flood defence schemes are in place in key locations across the city and we will continue to work with the Environmental Agency as the situation progresses.

Issues on the roads should be reported to the council’s Streets Ahead team on 0114 273 4567. We will have numerous teams responding to reports of flooding and wet spots across the city.
