Following the announcement of a national lockdown, new Covid-19 restrictions now apply to most areas of trading. Many businesses able to operate in Tier 3 must now close, or operate differently.
Essential businesses that can remain open include:
- supermarkets and food shops
- pharmacies
- garden centres
- petrol stations and MOT services
- launderettes
- banks and post offices
- doctors, dentists’ surgeries and vets
- car parks, public toilets and playgrounds
- building merchants
- places of worship
Hospitality businesses may continue to provide takeaway and delivery services, and non-essential retail can provide click and collect and delivery services.
It is still permitted to provide services in other people's homes, but you are required to ensure that this is done safely.
The Government has announced new grants for businesses affected by this lockdown. We will be issuing information on eligibility criteria and how to apply for these grants as soon as possible.
