Housing & Neighbourhoods Service

Community Fund

Our Community Fund scheme has been suspended since March due to the Covid19 pandemic. However, we have now re-launched the scheme.

The fund supports stronger, successful communities by making grants available to local voluntary, community and self-help groups wanting to make a difference in their local neighbourhood.  Grants are available for organisations that work with council tenants, or in and around council housing estates in Sheffield and for exciting, innovative projects which would benefit council tenants.

Projects which support local responses to Covid19 are particularly welcomed, but these are not the only activities that will be funded. Please note that all bidders will need to demonstrate how their project will be kept Covid-secure and meet the prevailing Covid19-related laws and guidance.

If you are involved in an organisation which could benefit from a Community Fund grant please get in touch with us at CommunityFund@sheffield.gov.uk for further information and to request an application form.

Rent payments - advice and support

We understand this is a difficult time for many tenants financially, and that some are worried about paying their rent. The advice to all tenants is that rent continues to be due, and you should pay this as usual wherever you can.

We will continue to contact tenants whose arrears are increasing to provide advice and support for those who need it. We have also restarted legal recovery actions against tenants who are not paying their rent and not engaging with us. We would urge any tenant that is struggling to pay to contact us, so we can discuss your circumstances. We can also discuss easy payment options, such as setting up a Direct Debit.

There is lots of Government support available to help you through these difficult times. If you need further help or advice, please contact us as soon as possible on 0114 293 0000.

Sheffield's community spirit shines through in Housing Annual Report

Each year the Housing and Neighbourhoods Service publishes an Annual Report reflecting on performance and achievements over the last 12 months.

This year has been a challenge for everyone so we also wanted to showcase and celebrate the amazing community spirit that has shone through recent difficult times.

So as well as the usual facts and figures, we've included lots of great examples of how we have helped each other out.

We couldn't include everyone but hopefully it gives a flavour of the amazing efforts many people have gone to in order to help others.

We also look to the future and outline our key priorities for 2020/21 in the report. Just click on the button below to find out more.
