A planning application for the latest round of Heart of the City II proposals has been submitted today, which if approved would see a landmark Radisson Blu hotel open on Pinstone Street.

A second local testing unit will soon be opening in Darnall to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 across the city and within our communities. This follows on from the opening of the first unit in Sharrow last month. The location of a third unit in Burngreave will be announced shortly.

Sheffield’s Covid-19 Prevention and Management Board is to hold it’s first public briefing and Q&A session on Friday 28 August 2020 from 1-2pm.
Chaired by the Leader of the Council, and alongside the Director of Public Health,the session will give an update on the current position in Sheffield, and touch on current hot topics, before opening up to questions from the public. Professor Emeritus Kevin Hylton from Leeds Beckett University, Chair of the Race Equality Commission
The Race Equality Commission is looking for people to join the commission and to submit evidence as part of a year long project.
Chaired by Professor Emeritus Kevin Hylton from Leeds Beckett University, the commission aims to provide an independent strategic assessment of the nature, extent, causes and impacts of racism and race inequality in Sheffield. It will then make recommendations for tackling these issues.

Online consultation events will start next week giving local people the opportunity to provide their views and feedback on what they would like to be included in the Sheffield Local Plan.

Work has begun to temporarily widen the footpath outside of Broomhill shopping precinct to create space for social distancing and opportunities for active travel in the area.
The scheme is set to be completed by the bank holiday weekend (30th August).
