VE Day celebrations set to show Sheffield’s steel spirit
 Sheffield's Women of Steel
Victory in Europe (VE Day), held to celebrate the end of the war in Europe in 1945, will be remembered with a difference this year.
Planned celebrations will continue in ‘stay safe’ style with the people of Sheffield being invited to pay their respects and say thank you to the millions who lost their lives in the Second World War.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Councillor Tony Downing, will mark the occasion on Friday in his ‘Tribute to the millions’ speech and Leader of the Council, Councillor Julie Dore, will pay tribute with the words of ‘Cry for Peace’.

Join us across the weekend as we share other local tributes and take part in national activities of remembrance.
These will be shared on our social media accounts and on Sheffield Newsroom.
As lockdown remains in place across the bank holiday, for everyone's safety please do not be tempted to celebrate with people outside of your own household.
Stay safe everyone.
