Help and support to pay your council house rent
During this extremely difficult and unprecedented time, we want to reassure our tenants we are still here to help. We are aware that many of our tenants may have been financially affected by Covid-19. As Councillor Julie Dore, Leader of Sheffield City Council, has said: "I can confirm that as part of this Council's commitment to supporting our tenants through difficult times, no council tenant will lose their home because of Covid-19".
However, tenants are still liable for their rent and should pay this as usual where they can. If you are facing financial hardship and will struggle to pay, please click on the link below for help available.
If you need further help or advice, please contact us as soon as possible on 0114 293 0000 so we can agree a realistic repayment plan and support you through this difficult time.
If you are self-isolating, remember you can pay your rent without leaving your home. The quickest and easiest way is by Direct Debit. Click on the button below for advice about how to set up a Direct Debit, as well as make online and automated telephone payments.
Finally, if you are vulnerable and need support of any other kind, contact Sheffield City Council's dedicated support line on 0114 2734567.
Rehousing
Because of Government advice against moving home at the current time, we have suspended advertising properties on our website. We have also withdrawn bids on properties already advertised and will contact customers affected by this.
We will only be providing accommodation to those with the most critical needs.
If you have a priority and wish to discuss this further, please call us on 0114 293 0000.
If you don’t feel safe where you currently live, contact South Yorkshire Police, VAS or IDAS for help and support.
If you have nowhere to live and cannot self-isolate, contact Housing Solutions on 0114 273 6306 or 0800 7311 689 (after 5pm).
Temporary suspension of the garden service
We would like to inform you that due to the current situation with Coronavirus/COVID-19 we are having to look at which work we need to undertake as a priority.
At this current time, we have had to suspend the garden service as staff are needed to work elsewhere on critical front line services.
We will update you when the situation changes and we will contact you to inform you when we will be back out working on gardens.
New build council housing sites
As you may know, we are currently in contract with a number of house builders (including United Living Ltd and Engie Regeneration Ltd) to deliver our exciting new council housing schemes across the city.
Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 situation, construction sites have been temporarily closed with immediate effect This is necessary to ensure the health and safety of the site staff, managers, visitors and inspectors.
The sites affected are Weakland Crescent, Berners Close, Daresbury View, Wordsworth Avenue and Adlington Road.
Site hoardings have also been erected on Knutton Rise in preparation for the construction of 4 new properties. Again, dependent upon the unfolding COVID-19 situation, this project will progress as soon as possible.
We will provide a further update as soon as possible when we are informed that these sites can reopen.
Rest assured that the security of these sites will be maintained and the Contractors and Sheffield City Council are closely working together to ensure this happens.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
