AUTUMN EVENTS - ISSUE 1

Check out the latest events from your library service

The autumn programme of events is now open for booking! Over the next few months we’ll be welcoming authors, artists and historians. We’ll be screening live events from the British Library and sharing some of the treasure we usually keep hidden away in the Central Library basement.

We’re particularly excited about our Mapping Sheffield season; a series of events to accompany an exhibition opening at Central Library next week.

As ever, we’re committed to providing something for everyone. Most events are free but please reserve your place as they usually book up!

Here’s a taster of what’s to come…

Erwin James committed his first crime when he was ten and spent his teenage years drifting as his petty crime turned increasingly violent. In 1984 he was jailed for life.
In prison, James struggled to cope with the enormity of his crimes until he met Joan, a prison psychologist, who helped him to confront the painful truth of his past. Encouraged to read and to educate himself, over the next 20 years Erwin James would go on to receive a BA in History and become a regular columnist for the Guardian.
